Wave Resource Data Download
===========================

The Wave Resource Data Download accesses the `NLR Hindcast Wave Energy Downoad web API <https://developer.nlr.gov/docs/wave/hindcast/>`__ that contains coastal wave data for the U.S. West Coast, U.S. East Coast, Hawaii, and Alaska. This three-hour time series data is available for multiple years.

.. note:: The web API may not always respond, so it may take several tries to successfully download a wave energy data file.

**Select dataset**
  Choose a dataset as appropriate for your location. Data is only available for locations along the U.S. East and West coasts and Hawaii.

**Latitude and Longitude**
  The latitude and longitude in decimal degrees of the location. You can use the `NLR Marine Energy Atlas <https://maps.nlr.gov/marine-energy-atlas>`__   to help identify locations covered by the database.

**Choose a single year**
  Use this option to download a weather file with one year's worth of data.

**Choose years**
  Use this option to download data for a range of years.

**Download all years**
  Use this option to download data for all available years in the database.

**Choose download folder**
  By default, SAM will download the file(s) to the <user>/SAM Downloaded Weather Files   folder on your computer, where <user> is the user folder on your computer. Click the Ellipses button |SS_Button-Ellipses|.
