fuellib.correlate.mixture.heat_of_combustion(fuel, Yi=None)

Calculate the heat of combustion of the fuel using a Hess cycle.

This is an engineering estimate related to ASTM D4809/D3338 heating-value characterization, not a simulated bomb-calorimeter test.

Parameters:

• fuel (Fuel) – Fuel object.

• Yi (Quantity[ndarray[tuple[int]]] | None) – Mass fractions of each compound in the mixture. Defaults to fuel.Y_0 (initial mass fractions).

Returns:

Heat of combustion of the mixture in J/kg.

Return type:

Quantity[float]
